Time Graph Manipulation

Time Graph Manipulation

In this tutorial, we will cover time graph manipulation, as well as how you can use time graphs to analyze your data.

Create Your Time Graph

Select a measure that you want to plot, and select the measure in which you're interested.

Right-click on your parameter and select Time Graph.

Your workspace now looks like this when the time graph displays:

You can add additional time graphs, each displaying a different measure, at any time. Simple click on the parameter displayed in the left-hand panel, drag, and drop the parameter onto the time graph. For example, we can display two additional parameters:

You can easily see the distributions, or how the various parameters change over time.

Zoom In/Out

If you want to zoom in on a particular area of the graph, you can do so by clicking on the graph to the left of the data point and dragging your cursor to the right. This creates a box over the area in which LMA zooms.

If you'd like to zoom out, you'll do the same dragging maneuver, but to the left instead of to the right.

Pan Left/Right

In the toolbar, make sure that the hand icon is selected.

With this option selected, you can click on your graph and move your cursor left/right to change your view of your graph.

Merge Graphs

Let's say you have multiple log files open, and you're displaying the same parameter for multiple measures. As an example, we are showing two RSRP time graphs in the workspace below:

You can compare the RSRP across multiple measures visually using the merge functionality. To do so, right-click on the first RSRP graph and select Merge.

You'll be asked which graphs with which you want it merged:

Select all applicable graphs, and click OK to proceed. You'll now see a time graph that displays all the measures you wanted merged together.

Note that the color of the graph corresponds to the title indicating the source of the data (so the graph that's in blue corresponds with the title that's also displayed in blue).

To undo a merge, simply right-click on your graph and select Split.

Block

The block option is the second option available in the toolbar.

When selected, I can click on a graph and drag to the right, creating a rectangle that covers a certain portion of my graph.

When you release your cursor, LMA will create a highlighted area (or blocking the data) on the graph you're working on, as well as the other graphs you have displayed.

This is useful for instances such as creating new measures within a space, which allows for in-depth analysis of a specific portion of your data set.

Before you proceed with creating your measure, you can choose between two block options: Within Block or Out of Block. The former takes data that is contained within the block, and the latter takes everything that is not contained within the block.

Note that creating a new measure requires LMA to import the data from the indicated files. You can change the import options for your new measure if you'd like. These are accessible via Configuration Import Option.

You can create a new measure by right-clicking on your block and selecting Create Measure.

Next, you'll be asked which of the measures you have loaded onto your Workspace you want included.

LMA automatically names your new log file, but you can edit it using the Prefix for new log file area.

When you're ready, click Build to proceed. Once your new file is ready, LMA automatically adds it to your workspace.

If you want to clear a block, right-click on your block and select Clear Block.

Other Options

You have many options when it comes to customizing your time graph.

By right-clicking and going to Environment, you can adjust the LMA settings that hide/show various metrics, how your graphs are displayed, and so on.

If you right-click again and select Options, you'll be able to change things like the colors used for your graph and other style-related options.

For additional fine-grain control over your graph, right-click and select Graph Configuration. This is where you can make changes to your graph, such as those relevant to the axes, titles, and so on.

Export Your Time Graphs

If you need to export the time graphs you create in LMA, you can do so. Simply right-click on the graph, hover over Export, and select the output type you want.
