Link Master Analysis (LMA) Import Options

Link Master Analysis (LMA) Import Options

In this article, we'll cover some of the options available to you when importing log files into Link Master Analysis (LMA).

Please review the Link Master Analysis (LMA) Quickstart if you need assistance importing your log files into LMA.

Import Status

When importing files into LMA, the Add measure to workspace gives you visual indicators that a given file has been imported and a database has been generated from the file in question.

In the following screenshot, notice that the data file in question is marked with green (to the left), and there's a zero value under the Imported column. As such, we know right away that this file has been imported and a database generated for the data. You can go straight into working with the data without importing the data again.

Updating Databases in LMA

Please note, however, that databases are static -- once a set of data has been imported, the database cannot be changed. If the underlying data file has changed, you'll need to reimport the data. You can do this by:

1. Deleting the database by right-clicking on the file and selecting Clear this measure (Clear DB)

2. Making sure that the file is selected, click Import and Open

This will reimport your file and create a new database with the updated data.

Merge Log Files

Let's say that you want to import the following two data files, which are completely separate from each other:

By default, these log files will be imported and treated as separate files. This means that you'll have to run two sets of analyses, and so on. However, you can merge the files to perform one set of analysis on both files by setting the Merge option as Merge as a single measure:

If you choose to do this, the first step of the import process will be to provide a file name for the merged measure.

During the import process, LMA will merge the two log files together into one.

When the import completes, LMA puts the newly-merged files into your workspace (in the following screenshot, you'll see our sample file, which we've named Test merge).

Conversely, if we import the two files separately, this is what their listings would look like in LMA (the first row is the merged file, the second and third rows are the individual files):

Similarly, we can compare and contrast the differences between a Time Graph using data from a merged file versus the two Time Graphs generated using two separate data files (the first graph is data from the merged file, and the second and third graphs are those from individual files).

Selecting Data to View

You can see what data gets brought into visual displays you create based on the checkmarks present.

You can easily right-click and select Uncheck All to unselect all data sets. This gives you a blank slate to re-add data one set at a time.

Clearing Your Workspace

You can get clear your workspace, which removes all databases and visual displays you've created, by right-clicking and selecting Close All.

You're now ready to import and work with new data.

To add data to your workspace, you can click the plus icon.

Notice, however, that the Add measure to workspace wizard is showing that there have been multiple files already imported and for which databases have been created.

Import Options

In the bottom left of the Add measure to workspace wizard, there is a button for Import Option.

This brings up the options that allow you to structure your parameters as your log files are imported into LMA.

As you can see, some general import options include:

  • Adjust timestamp to GPS time (or PC time if GPS was not used)
  • Auto adjust jumping timestamps

You can also choose to import selected attributes only.

Click Select Attributes to specify the ones you want to import and click OK to save.

Note that you also have the ability to adjust options regarding:

  • Sampling
  • Build Detail DB
  • LTE
  • Scanner
  • WiFi
  • Voice MOS
  • Video MOS

Importing Channel-Specific Data

If you have a lot of log files, you can opt to import just those for a specific channel. Simply click Select Channel.

Select the channel(s) whose log files you want imported.

Using Automation

Automation allows you to set actions to occur automatically during the import process.

For example, the Merge & Import Each Channel option tells LMA to merge all files for a specific channel before importing.
